This page describes requirements for acknowledging AD Knowledge Portal data used in publications or related outputs.
Requirements for Data Reuse

All AD Knowledge Portal data use MUST be acknowledged with the following Statement:
The results published here are in whole or in part based on data obtained from the AD Knowledge Portal (NIH-NIA, U24AG061340).

You MUST agree to use the specific, pre-written acknowledgement statements* provided on Portal Study pages in publicly-shared research outputs which reuse AD Knowledge Portal data. This requirement applies whether the data is fully open or under Controlled Access. You'll be prompted to agree to use this acknowledgement statement when you access the data through Synapse.
Pre-written acknowledgement statements for each study can be found on the relevant Study page, as seen in the screenshot below.

You MUST include a Data Availability Statement in the following format:
[Data, analysis output, tools (contributor to add their own description of the available content)] are available via the AD Knowledge Portal (https://adknowledgeportal.synapse.org/). The AD Knowledge Portal is a platform for accessing data, analyses, and tools generated by the Accelerating Medicines Partnership (AMP-AD) Target Discovery Program and other National Institute on Aging (NIA)-supported programs to enable open-science practices and accelerate translational learning. The data, analyses and tools are shared early in the research cycle without a publication embargo on secondary use. Data is available for general research use according to the following requirements for data access and data attribution (https://adknowledgeportal.synapse.org/Data%20Access). Study Page DOIs can be found at the top of each Study page, as seen in the screenshot below.
When Do You Need a Synapse Dataset (AKA Publication Dataset)?
In many cases, citing the Study Page DOI (as seen above) in your Acknowledgement Statement is sufficient. However, a Publication Dataset (a Synapse Dataset created specifically for your manuscript) is useful if any of the following apply:

You need to point to data from multiple studies.

You need to point to a specific subset of files or specific versions of files from one or more studies.

You need to point to analytical outputs alongside study data.
If none of these apply, a Publication Dataset isn't needed. Use the Study Page DOI located at the top of the published Study page in your Data Availability Statement.
If one or more of the above apply, submit a Service Desk ticket to Request a DOI for Publication, and include the following at the bottom of your Data Availability Statement:
