AD Workbench
Using AD Workbench with the AD Knowledge Portal
Overview
AD Workbench – a secure, cloud-based data sharing and analytics environment – is the interoperability layer of the AD Data Initiative (ADDI). Easy to use and available at no cost, AD Workbench empowers researchers around the world to share, access and analyze data across platforms.
Prerequisites
AD Knowledge Portal Account:
Sign up for an account at the AD Knowledge Portal by accessing the sign in link and clicking create an account now. Full instructions can be found here.
Once your account is created, take the quiz to become certified to download data.
AD Workbench workspace:
Have an existing workspace in AD Workbench, or request to create one that you can export to. Instructions on how to setup and use this data is available at: https://www.alzheimersdata.org/tech-help
Step 1: Obtain Access to AD Knowledge Portal Data
Anyone can browse the AD Knowledge Portal without registration.
To download or export data, create a freeAD Knowledge Portal account, powered by Sage Bionetworks tool Synapse.
While many studies contain controlled-access data, some non-human model data in ADKP is open for use with a Synapse account. For controlled-access data, you must submit an electronic data access request, including a Data Use Certificate (DUC) as indicated in the Access Request instructions.
Step 2: Get Access to AD Workbench
Visithttps://discover.alzheimersdata.org/ to learn more about the platform and available resources.
Sign up to and create a workspace.
If you already use Single Sign On (via google) you can use the same credentials to link your accounts.
If you already have a AD Workbench account and workspace, you will need to login to AD Workbench first, then export your data from AD Knowledge Portal.
Step 3: Export Data to Your AD Workbench Workspace
In the AD Knowledge Portal, navigate to a study details page.
Scroll to the Files List view.
Check the box next to the metadata or data files you want to export.
Select “Send All Results to Analysis Platform.”
Follow the on-screen workflow to:
Choose AD Workbench as your analysis platform.
Select your target workspace in AD Workbench.
Once complete, your selected files will be available in your workspace for full analysis functionality.
Visit the help portal for details navigating AD Workbench resources and workspace.
